Adidas has teamed up with the Boston Athletic Association and Marathon Sports to open the Boston Marathon RunBase in Boston, the first of its kind in the U.S. Located on Boylston Street, the store aims to serve all of a runner’s needs, from Adidas sneakers and clothes to showers to use after a run.

The 2,000-sq.-ft. location will open to the public this month and stay open year-round.

“RunBase is a one-of-a-kind resource for runners based in and traveling to Boston,” said Mikal Peveto, global director of running innovation at Adidas, in a statement. “Adidas is taking its partnership with the Boston Athletic Association to the next level, with the help of Marathon Sports, to let runners experience the best of our brand and the spirit of the greatest race.”

RunBase will be at the 26-mile mark of the Boston Marathon, and will boast displays documenting the 119-year history of the race, from stories of the marathon’s history and race bibs to medals, trophies and jackets. The location will offer runners the opportunity to go on community runs, listen to expert speakers, meet renowned athletes, get assistance on training plans and education on nutrition.

Customers will be greeted by a large cast of the marathon’s symbol, a unicorn, a 10-foot 3D topographic  animated wooden race map, four interactive screens across the space replaying moments of the race’s history and Interactive 3D gear cases with transparent touch screens that show Adidas footwear.

Runners can also use the location’s treadmill, which allows runners to experience a simulation of the 26.2-mile race.

The location will also offer official marathon apparel and accessories.

“We’ve already cultivated a community of like-minded runners through our heritage,” said Tom Grilk, executive director of the Boston Athletic Association, in a statement. “This experience expands the way we serve and interact with runners while providing world-class product in an environment that celebrates the Boston Marathon’s past and present.”
