Zachary Quinto Talks Candidly About Social Issues And Shoes

Zachary Quinto has a lot of opinions — on everything from social issues to shoes. The actor, who was the honorary chair of Jeffrey Fashion Cares last week, spoke candidly about the importance of LGBT rights. “We are living in a time where we are on the precipice of irreversible change toward equality,” said Quinto.

“At the same time, we’re living in a moment when people in Indiana and Washington are crowdsourcing money to actively politicize and monetize bigotry and hatred. So [raising] awareness for AIDS research and education for LGBT youth and for the legal rights of our community — it’s a really important thing, especially now.”

Quinto, who is known for his portrayal of Spock in the “Star Trek” movies and his recent turn on “Girls,” said he loves Dior shoes but is also a fan of Vans. “I like things that are comfortable and that ground me,” he said. Quinto also just closed on a Noho apartment this month, so he’s officially a New Yorker.
