CFDA Celebrates Emerging Talent Nominees At NYC Party

Talk about an impressive crowd. The Council of Fashion Designers of America welcomed the nominees for the Swarovski Award for Emerging Talent at the Gramercy Park Hotel Tuesday night. Big names like Paul Andrew and Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne of Public School mingled.

Andrew said he was looking forward to catching up with fellow designer friends he’s been with throughout the CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund journey. (Andrew walked away with the honor last year.) “It’s a very exciting time,” he said, adding that he would be on a 6 a.m. flight to Miami for FN’s CEO Summit. There, he was planning to talk spring ’16 and more.

“I won’t give too much away, but I will say I was inspired by a trip to Lane Crawford in Hong Kong,” Andrew hinted. Then, after a short vacation in St. Barts in the Caribbean, it’s back to New York City for the big CFDA event on June 1.

The night was also an auction. Designers were tasked with creating a crystallized objet d’art, inspired by the theme “disruption.” Andrew produced an oversized plane rudder, Rosie Assoulin went for books (obviously), Ryan Roche did ballerina slippers and Hood by Air made a construction-zone item.

Rebecca Minkoff, Leandra Medine and more showed their support for the fashion crowd.
