We always had a sneaking suspicion that North West was a serious shoe fiend. At just 22 months, the toddler is better dressed than many of us, wearing custom Alexander Wang, Charlotte Olympia Kitten flats, Timberland boots — and she practically stole the February New York Fashion Week front row.
Turns out that “shoes” is, in fact, North’s favorite word. In a new interview with Vogue ahead of the latest season of Kardashian Kids collection, North’s mom, Kim Kardashian West, describes her daughters’ footwear obsession.
“She’s really particular about what she likes to wear — she’s such a girlie girl. Every day, she wakes up and says ‘shoes.’ You have to bargain with her — before you change her diaper, she needs a pair of shoes on,” Kardashian told Vogue.
Shoe brands and fans know the power of little North’s influence on the kids’ fashion market. Like her fashionable parents, Kim and Kanye, what little North wears, sells.
“North has an edgier baby style, which appeals to the more alternative moms,” said Bonnie Fuller, editor-in-chief of Hollywoodlife.com, owned by FN’s parent company, Penske Media Corp, told FN earlier this year.
And edgy it is, at least for a 2-year-old. North regularly appears on Kim’s Instagram account wearing mini Dr. Martin boots and custom kicks.
