Cinderella has some serious competition for best shoes.
In the past two weeks, British actress Lily James has hit the press circuit for the upcoming Disney live-action version of “Cinderella,” and she’s opting for some noteworthy princess-worthy footwear.
James first wowed at the Berlinale International Film Festival premiere of the film in a soft pink Dior ball gown and custom Jimmy Choo heels. (The Choo heels you might recognize from the project inviting shoe designers to re-imagine Cinderella’s famous glass slipper.) The look was a standout introduction for James, who is best known for her roll as carefree flapper Lady Rose MacClare on “Downton Abbey.”
While James has often been spotted in Choo heels, she also took a few risks on the red carpet with her shoes.
At the Milan photo call for “Cinderella,” James wore a spring collection Gucci red dress with Christian Louboutin booties, revealing an edgier side to her look. Though the outfit may not have been entirely successful–it is James’ first real go around for a block-buster–FN likes the spirit and the bolder shoe choice. Her Milan premiere look–an emerald Erdem dress and simple Jimmy Choo heels–was much better.
She also made a unique statement in Chelsea Paris Asha heels at the Moscow premiere of the film. The sweet shoes were a nice departure from some of the more familiar red carpet styles and a good choice for James’ Nicholas Oakwell tea-length gown.
As the actress continues on the press circuit for the “Cinderella” film we’re certain to see her up her shoe game when fashion heavyweights like Cate Blanchett and Helena Bonham Carter are her red carpet and on-screen co-stars.
We’ll consider this good practice for her next big roll as Elizabeth Bennett in “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies” due later this year.
