Lady Gaga paid tribute to the 50th anniversary of “The Sound of Music” at the 2015 Oscars with a show-stopping performance that people can’t seem to stop talking about.
The singer usually shocks people with her outrageous outfits, whether she’s in sky-high platform heels or a meat dress, but this time, she shocked Oscar viewers with her voice and elegance.
Gaga hit the stage singing a medley of the film’s hits, including “My Favorite Things,” “Edelweiss” and “Climb Every Mountain.”
She looked stunning in a custom Alaia gown, paired with Brian Atwood platform heels.
“Dear Lady Gaga, thank you for that wonderful tribute. Oh my god, it really warmed my heart,” said “The Sound of Music” star Julie Andrews as she took the stage after the performance.
Gaga received a standing ovation. She was so moved by the experience, she was seen crying tears of joy backstage.
On the red carpet, the recently engaged pop star looked more herself, wearing another custom Azzedine Alaia gown. She took to Instagram to thank the designer, posting, “It took 1600 hrs of embroidery and 25 people in Paris, he’s never before made a dress for the Oscars. What an honor.”
Gaga easily delivered one of the best performances of the night, triggering 214,000 Twitter and Facebook interactions per minute globally.
