Which Designer Won the Awards Season Shoe Race?

Awards season has come to an end, and by FN’s tally, Jimmy Choo is the No. 1 shoe celebrities chose for the red carpet. Christian Louboutin was neck-and-neck, while Stuart Weitzman scored third place.

Jimmy Choo had a big hit during the Academy Awards’ opening musical number when host Neil Patrick Harris and “Into the Woods” star Anna Kendrick featured the house’s Darilyn pump as Cinderella’s “lost” slipper. Comedian Jack Black made a funny cameo during the performance, causing Kendrick to throw her gold Jimmy Choo shoe at his head.

“It was a complete surprise. It really is a full-circle moment for us,” Jimmy Choo Creative Director Sandra Choi told FN. “We have been traveling to L.A. to dress celebrities for this night since 1999. It’s hugely gratifying and an honor when an actress wears our product, but to be mentioned in the opening monologue? I am still pinching myself!”

FN covered the Oscars, Golden Globes, SAG Awards, Grammys and the Critics Choice Awards to find the best red carpet shoe looks.

Watch on FN

Some of our favorites included Emma Stone at the Oscars in a custom-dyed ankle-strap peep-toes by Christian Louboutin, called Gardnera, worn with an Elie Saab dress. Jennifer Anniston’s Oscar look, which featured custom-dyed nude satin Nudist sandals by Stuart Weitzman, worn with a Versace gown, also ranked highly, while Amy Adams stunned in Jimmy Choo’s Patsy platform sandal at the Golden Globes. Jimmy Choo’s Jane, Claudette and Minny styles were among the most popular overall.

Hollywood’s leading men also shined. Standouts included Chris Brown at the Grammy Awards in Jimmy Choo smoking slippers, Jesse Tyler Ferguson in Christian Louboutin’s Dada patent loafer at the SAG Awards, and Adrien Brody in Christian Louboutin’s patent Greggo lace-up style.

Other popular designers worn on the red carpet included Brian Atwood, Sophia Webster and Giuseppe Zanotti.
