Spring has officially arrived, which means it’s time to ditch the black in favor of lighter shades. Luckily, the spring ’15 market has hopped onto the trend.
Brands took on pastels in a variety of styles — from sneakers to stilettos. While pastel shades can easily fall into Easter egg territory, in our picks, the palette is elevated with refined details and color-blocking.
Pedro Garcia worked a light blue shade into its satin sneaker style, which makes for an unexpected colorway. MM6 Maison Margiela used a panel of blue instead, keeping the rest of the sneaker light with a neutral gray, white and navy finish.
Color-blocked pastel shades were also prevalent in the spring market. MSGM used a pastel pink and blue, combining it with a saturated yellow for an interesting mixture. Lucy Choi London’s pump took it a step further, combining pastel prints for a clashing combo that works.
Beachy espadrilles seem to be the perfect canvas for the light colorway, as seen in both Manebi and Tory Burch’s styles.
