This week, FN’s sneaker columnist Stacey Griffith — senior master instructor at SoulCycle — goes for Alexander McQueen sneakers. See her thoughts on the style below:
“This white sneaker features a puffed-up, fluffed-out version of smooth leather, which reminds me of Peeps at Easter. It also has a disguised sneaker heel — I call it a “sneer” — that gives an extra two inches of height. Simpler details include a sexy wide toebox (which you know I love), a flared-out rubber sole and a navy suede heel with embossed Alexander McQueen tag to let the public know that you know what you’re doing.
I have to say, it also kind of reminds me of the 1980s, when we all used to wear Nash Cruisers. It was a rollerskate with a tennis shoe on top, and the wheels would stick out just enough that you felt like you were just wearing a really fast sneaker.
This shoe can cross over from casual to semi-dressy. I rock them with skinny jeans and a YSL striped navy blazer. I can’t wait to wear this shoe all summer!”
