If color is your thing, Zuzii shoes just may come in a shade for you.
The Los Angeles-based brand focuses on women’s suede laceup oxfords and slip-on loafers in a wide range of colors, from tobacco brown to pale pink.
“We drew inspiration from some of our vintage favorites, using classic palettes and prints inspired by mid-20th century textiles,” said designer Ryan Campbell, who co-founded Zuzii alongside her sister, Alex, and mother, Nickie. “We combined the character of vintage color palettes with the lean construction of our footwear to create a nostalgic collection with a contemporary twist.”
The fall ’15 collection, which ranges from $50 to $110, is handmade in downtown Los Angeles. Sizes are available from baby up to women’s, and the shoes are available exclusively on the brand’s e-commerce website.
Though all of the styles are made with genuine leather, Campbell also hopes to eventually transition the brand into using animal-free materials.
“We’re seeking out future fabrics that will act and wear in a similar way to leather,” said Campbell. “My sister and I are Choctaw Indians, so we have a deep appreciation for the processing of the full animal. We [only] use the waste material that is created from the food industry.”
