Tod’s is set to debut its ready-to-wear collection tomorrow on Net-a-porter. The luxury e-commerce giant will carry the collections exclusively for two seasons. The women’s line will go live on the site on July 29, and men’s offering will launch on Mr Porter on Sept. 8.
Previously, Net-a-porter had carried only Tod’s accessories — shoes, leather bags and luggage.
Tod’s fall ’15 ready-to-wear collection offered looks in rich hues: deep burgundy, midnight blue, emerald green and a warm brown, among others. The label’s expertise in leather was clear in the heavy stitching that appeared on the jackets and footwear.
That same practical yet chic stitching appeared in Tod’s fall ’15 shoes, which are highlighted in its new ad campaign, which dropped last week. The brand is also making updates to its iconic Gommino driving moccasin.
Tod’s Women’s Creative Director Alessandra Facchinetti explained that the collection is aimed at what she describes as a contemporary woman with a young attitude.
“It perfectly reflects the evolution of the brand toward the new fresh and crossing urban style,” said Facchinetti.
The decision to sell its men’s and women’s collections on Net-a-Porter seems to reflect the brand’s push to attract a savvy, urban crowd that may not have always gravitated to the Italian luxury label.
