FN chatted to designer Alexandre Birman about his best celebrity shoe-spotting, travel plans and current favorite actress.
“My muses are feminine, classic and elegant women, but above all, a woman who’s intelligent and comfortable in her own skin,” explained Alexandre Birman of his female inspirations.
Unfortunately, the designer wouldn’t divulge many details about his spring ’16 collection just yet. “To give you a taste, my inspiration is from places the woman escapes to, to be in nature. I chose references from Brazilian beaches and remote areas in the rainforest.”
Here, Birman dives deeper and shares his celebrity crush and weekend beach plans with his family.
Favorite actress of the moment?
“Julianne Moore, because of her unique beauty. I find her very chic, and she stands out to me for her ability to juggle a successful career and a family.”
Best celebrity shoe-spotting?
“I don’t have a favorite, but Eva Longoria and Gwyneth Paltrow have worn the Clarita recently — and both looked stunning.”
Last movie you watched?
“The documentary ‘The Salt of the Earth.’ The way the film features Sebastião Salgado discussing his work, showing both images and life, was captivating. It was inspiring to me to see how they combined beauty with the sensitivity of humanity.”
What is your travel schedule like in May?
“During the week, I’ll be traveling to our factories, from São Paulo to Porto Alegre.
On weekends, my family and I will go to our country and beach houses in the state of
Rio de Janeiro.”
