The Pensole Footwear Design Academy has formed another strategic partnership to encourage aspiring shoe designers — this time, overseas. After previously linking up with Foot Locker and Asics on a sneaker competition and class, the educational organization today announced that it has teamed with Danish footwear company Ecco on a special master class.
The intensive, hands-on footwear design course, dubbed the 2015 iPensole at Kolding School of Design by Ecco, will be held Oct. 19 to Nov. 2 in Kolding, Denmark.
“Pensole has hosted design students from all over the world since its inception,” said D’Wayne Edwards, founder of the organization. “This is the first time we’ve brought a Pensole program to Europe, and we’re very excited to partner with Denmark’s premier design school and premium footwear brand.”
As part of the master class, students will be invited to visit Ecco’s headquarters to learn directly from the company’s team of experienced professionals, including design directors, designers, developers and engineers. Pensole staff will also be on hand to provide guidance and additional instruction.
Registration is open now through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 30, for all interested students 18 and older. Applications must be submitted online through the Pensole website. Selected participants will be announced on Sept. 7.
In partnership with Cumulus, the International Association of Universities & Colleges of Art, Design & Media, Pensole and the Kolding School are offering as many as four scholarships for the iPensole class. Interested parties should apply for the scholarships on the Pensole site.
