Leave it to Jeremy Scott to find yet another way to fuse a quirky, pop-culture reference into a mainstream fashion collection. We’ve seen McDonalds robes, Coca-Cola dresses, Barbie jackets, and what we deemed to be the Jurassic Park-inspired footwear collection, all hit runways, press and eventually e-commerce stores. And whilst certain styles have certainly been polarizing, more often than not, their success can certainly be argued by the commercial response.
Now, enter Looney Tunes. It was really only a matter of time before we saw Tweety Bird’s face emblazoned on a Moschino item. Scott presented the collection for fall ’15, however the first styles are now available for purchase on moschino.com.
The offering includes lace-up combat boots, ballet flats and pumps – all complete with variations of your favorite Looney Tunes characters, from Sylvester to Bugs Bunny and Porky Pig. Granted the characters come complete with backwards facing baseball caps, heavy gold chains and embellished crowns, all doing their best to shed their cutesy images and become more street, less what you remember seeing on Cartoon Network.
Love them or hate them, you can’t argue that Scott has found his trademark and knows how to stick to it.
