Men’s Spring Trend: Dress Shoes With A Twist

For spring ’15, men’s dress shoes get casual finishes via metal hardware and unexpected color combinations.

Brands took classic silhouettes, either the laceup or brogue style, and amped them up with bold colors. Maison Margiela played with a dip-dye leather treatment, using a deep blue leather and fading it to white. Paul Smith went for a more subtle approach, using a two-toned midsole.

Luxury brands like Givenchy and Christian Louboutin experimented with metal hardware on classic lace-up dress shoes. Givenchy made use of an oversized metallic strap, while Louboutin used golden zippered tracks as piping.

All-white laceups also proved to be a prevalent trend for spring. Adieu used its creeper silhouette, a modern take on the dress shoe, and finished it with a white leather. Zara’s rubberized white lace up is a more affordable version.

They key to wearing the style? Keep the suit classic and in a monochromatic color palette. If you want to wear the shoes in a more casual setting, pair them with dark denim and a smart button-up.
