While Marc Jacobs’ spring ’16 women’s show made a splash with its star-spangled collection, the men’s offering is holding a certain dazzle all its own this season.
The spring ’16 collection features various flourishes from floral-printed leathers to sequin dress shoes—details that fall in line with the kirky, offbeat aesthetic the Marc Jacobs brand has become known for.
Dress styles had rad-trad detailing like thick, zigzag flatform soles, or a scalloped wooden sole that was painted. Classic styles were also offered as well, like a suede monkstrap or black patent lace-up oxford.
As for the more casual offering, sneakers and sandals dominated the collection.
Teva-style sandals were offered in leaf-printed leathers or or pastel suedes, while slide sandals were done in an embossed treatment. Slip-on sneakers came in minimal colorways or floral motifs, while high-tops and low-tops had subtle satin accents.
With the Marc by Marc Jacobs collection folded into the mainline, one can certainly see its more youthful aesthetic creeping into the luxe designs—proving the beloved label may be gone, but not totally forgotten.
