Katie Holmes presented Bruno Frisoni for Roger Vivier with a Fashion Star Award at Fashion Group International’s Annual Night of Stars Gala at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City on Thursday night. Holmes walked the carpet arm-in-arm with Frisoni, wearing Roger Vivier Marlene booties and a dress by Zac Posen.
“Since I’ve been at Roger Vivier, she’s been by my side,” Frisoni told Footwear News. “She’s stood by me, and she was one of the most beautiful wearers of [the shoes] and helped the brand be successful. She’s a friend. I’ve been there at times in her life, and she’s here with me tonight, which has made it much easier for me to have her here.”
Holmes took the stage to present the designer with the award, saying, “Bruno brought the house back to life with his modern vision of his spirit of Roger Vivier. He infuses his designs with sexy elegance and an acknowledgment of a women’s beauty and intelligence. Bruno’s kindness matches his brilliance.”
After taking the stage, Frisoni said receiving the award brought on a lot of emotion and that it’s something that pushes him to go further.
“Fashion is what changes. We are always changing. Whatever is new is what we want and what matters. Looking at the new generation helps us understand what is to come,” he said. “You have to listen to them and look at them and try to understand what mix to do. It’s a right balance between what is considered to be avant garde and what is considered to be old-fashioned. “
Other big winners of the night included Lord & Taylor Fashion Oracle Award recipient Justin Timberlake, who walked the carpet with wife Jessica Biel. And Meryl Streep presented an award to Alber Elbaz.
