Designers and fashionable front-rowers took to Instagram to begin documenting the month-long series of fashion extravaganzas. Naturally, they took fans up close and personal with some of the standout shoes of the week on social media.
This season, designers again turned to the 1970s for inspiration at New York Fashion Week, with platforms and chunky heels to sweet feminine t-straps. Prabal Gurung showcased tangerine “Marlene” T-straps, and Tommy Hilfiger spotlighted his maroon peep-toe platforms right off the runway.
Another major preview highlight was from Nicholas Kirkwood, who has joined forces with Peter Pilotto. Kirkwood showed off a pair of color-blocked sandals from his upcoming collaboration. Pilotto’s London Fashion Week show is slated for Feb. 23.
If shots of runway shoes weren’t enough, designers and celebrities highlighted fun backstage and front-row moments throughout the week.
Kate Hudson and Allison Williams showed off garden party- ready looks at Michael Kors, and the Kors team shared a playful moment with super fan (and Taylor Swift’s super-friend) Karlie Kloss at his runway show. Front-row glamour extended to Blake Lively’s view of the Prohibition Era collection at Marchesa, and Oscar de la Renta shared a front-row view of the house’s shoe collection, by Daniel Lawler and Peter Copping.
New York Fashion Week is over, but there is plenty to look forward to in Europe. On to London!
