Celebrate Bastille Day With Shoes By French Labels

In France, July 14 marks ‘La Fête Nationale,’ better known as Bastille Day. The holiday commemorates the anniversary of French independence marked by the storming of the Bastille prison fortress.

French or not, it seems only fitting to celebrate the holiday by rocking a pair of shoes by any one of the dozens of legendary French designers.

Lucky enough to be in Paris? Givenchy’s oversized black buckle sandals or Isabel Marant’s etoile ‘Bart’ leopard-print calf hair sneakers are chic and comfortable enough to take to the Parisian boulevards.

Lanvin’s ‘Kiltie’ leather slip-on sneakers and and See By Chloé’s glossed leather loafers in dark burgundy both are easy summer-to-fall transition styles.

The French are certainly talented at creating bold statement shoes. Any Francophile likely owns a pair of Christian Louboutin heels. The designer currently has a pair of python red and black mules with gold chain-trim detailing that are a luxury-lovers dream.

Pierre Hardy is offering a pair of fun pink and coral sandals with tassels on the ankle strap that can brighten up a dark look. Saint Laurent’s ‘Jane’ sandals are simple–in lizard-effect they’re neutral but eye-catching.
