MTV Video Music Awards Red Carpet: Standout Celebrity Shoes From Years Past

The 2015 MTV Video Music Awards will air this weekend, on Sunday Aug. 30 at 9pm EDT. To no surprise, music’s heavyweights led the nominations again this year. Ed Sheeran, Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar, Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars are all nominated for Video of the Year.

Miley Cyrus has been reminding us of her hosting duties via Instagram over the past few weeks. She announced that she was hosting by holding up two signs, one reading “MTV Won’t Let Me Perform” and the other reading “So I’m Hosting This Year’s VMAs.” She’s also been sharing photos of billboards and ads for the awards.

In recognition of the big night, FN is highlighting some of the best shoes from past years. Back in 2011, the VMAs were a huge moment in Beyoncé and pop-culture history, when the singer announced onstage that she was pregnant.

In 2012, shoe highlights included rapper Tyga’s red sneakers and Kat Graham’s heels with a spiked ankle strap. The following year, Selena Gomez was in head-to-toe Atelier Versace, pairing clear pointy-toe pumps with her revealing gown.

In 2014, girl group Fifth Harmony walked the red carpet wearing an array of strappy and cutout sandals, while Nicki Minaj wore Giuseppe Zanotti crystal-embellished black-and-white peep-toe booties and Taylor Swift added Elie Saab heels to her tiny Mary Katrantzou romper.
