Lady Gaga’s bold choices in footwear got really interesting this week when the singer stepped out in new designer label Giannico.
Nicolò Beretta, the Italian designer behind the brand, is just 19 years old and already garnering buzz, including an appearance on our Emerging Designer list and speaking at the FN CEO Summit in Miami earlier this month. And he’s already been a part of Italy’s Vogue Talent competition.
Landing on Gaga’s discerning feet is a certain to swell the audience of shoe lovers who know his name.
The singer stepped out in two spring/summer 2015 styles by Giannico, including an embellished pump with a Swarovski crystal banana, a nod by Beretta to Andy Warhol’s Pop Art.
Watch on FN
Lady Gaga has been out and about in New York for her tour with crooner Tony Bennett and has been spotted around the world in the past few months in bold styles ranging from floating heels by Alexander McQueen to Alexander Wang’s famous platform boots.
Beretta has been a bold new face in footwear. “I’m not afraid to show my age,” he told FN. When Manolo Blahnik looked through his portfolio, Beretta said, it gave him the confidence to start his label. His collection is available at TheCorner.com.
