Fergie hit New York City’s Lord & Taylor in a pair of her own shoe line’s Rowley ankle boots for a fan meet-and-greet and a viewing of her fall ’15 Fergie Footwear collection. The Black Eyed Peas member sat down with Footwear News to talk about her design process and how far she’s come as a designer since launching her line in 2009.
“I’ve gotten so much more detailed with the hardware and just really pulling together the line and getting more specific on the DNA,” she said.” I’m so proud of what we’ve done. It’s really evolved, and I can see it as a cohesive line.”
She’s currently working on her second studio album, so naturally, Fergie, compared designing shoes to creating songs for an album.
“With each shoe having its own character, it’s own personality — it’s almost like my album. It’s all authentically me, yet each song has a different feel and a different vibe. I’m acting as a different character with a different façade of myself, so that’s how I see this [shoe collection].

Here, learn more of Fergie’s shoe secrets.
1. She has a massive shoe closet.
“At least 300 pairs. I’ve built a shoe closet specifically for my footwear line.” When it comes to a go-to designer, she said, “For me, there are just too many to mention.”
2. She doesn’t wear heels every day.
“Not day-to-day. I’m going to the studio, so there’s no point.”
3. She wears custom shoes on stage.
“I switch it up a lot of times. Caleres, formally known as Brown Shoe, makes me custom shoes. I’m a lucky girl!”
4. She wore a pair of shoes from her own collection to Coachella this year.
“The Benny. … They are great for dancing. You almost want them to get dirtier.”
5. Her toddler, Axl, may have inspired the look of her fall ’15 collection.
“If you noticed, the heels have gotten lower because mommy is running after a two-year-old.”
