“Spring ’16 was inspired by the passion for cars that David Preston and I share,” said Gandy, who purchased a majority stake in the London-based men’s brand earlier this year.
The footwear collection, priced from $600 to $700, includes classic dress styles like monk straps, oxfords and derbies, as well as a casual driving mocs.
“Details of the collection are taken from cars and the styles one would wear [driving them],” said Gandy. The English supermodel, known for his work in Dolce & Gabbana campaigns and on runways — “all those shows were incredible,” he recalled — has a dapper style all his own and a designer shoe closet to match.
“I’ve always been a fan of Lanvin,” said Gandy. “Paul Smith produces great shoes for a good price. And there’s obviously a lot of Dolce & Gabbana in there.”
For 2016, Gandy is focused on growing the label’s list of retail accounts. “We’re in the process of finalizing some exciting stockists,” said Gandy. “The online strategy is the next phase and will be an important part of the business next year.”
Below, Gandy shares a few of his favorite things:
“The perfect all-season shoe is the Chelsea boot, and that’s what I predominantly wear — rain or shine.”
Best childhood memory
“Standing with my grandfather in his workshop as he worked on his latest clock.”
Favorite travel destination
“Africa. I trekked to see gorillas a few years back, and that is something I will never forget.”
“‘Boys of Summer’ by Don Henley. Best driving song ever.”
Biggest food cravings
“Asian Fusion is my favorite. It’s the mixture of the freshness of the ingredients and the spices.”
“Old Hollywood greats like Paul Newman, James Dean or Cary Grant. But I admire anyone with individuality.”
