Harry Home, Shoe Industry Veteran Dies at 85

Industry veteran, Harry Home, died on Sept. 17. He was 85.

Home started his career at 15 at Nordstrom and was among one of the first non-family members to be a vice president at the retailer when he opened the Oregon region.

In his early 40s, he started his own business, Home Shoe Co., which he ran for 18 years. Over the years he was involved in a range of footwear segments that included wholesale, manufacturing and retail for stores that included Meier & Frank.

Home is survived eight children including Scott Home, current president of Coolway USA; 36 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Oct. 23 at 1:00 p, at Willamette National Cemetery in Happy Valley, Ore.
