California-based retailer Revolve is set to debut a footwear collection following its recent growth and purchase of Alliance Apparel Group brands.
As reported by FN’s sister site, WWD, Alliance Apparel Group brands Lovers + Friends, Tularosa and NBD will now fall under Revolve’s brand umbrella. The retailer is also set to launch its own footwear collection for the spring. The line, titled Raye, will launch with 30 styles, at prices ranging from $135 to $300.
That price range is in line with the retailer’s customer base. Revolve currently offers a variety of contemporary footwear brands, such as Alice + Olivia, Dolce Vita, Loeffler Randall, Schutz and Joie. Its high-end sister site, Forward, sells luxury labels like 3.1 Phillip Lim, Aquazurra and Common Projects.
With those Alliance Apparel Group brands on its roster, Revolve is confident the new partnership will be profitable, and it can then use them to build its new in-house footwear collection.
“Alliance was a diamond in the rough,” Revolve co-founder Mike Karanikolas told WWD. “We feel like their trajectory is tremendous. They’re on a great track. We can support them with capital and high-level advice.”
According to Business Wire, Alliance Apparel Group is expected to gross $18 million in sales in 2015.
A number of retailers have embraced the idea of launching their own footwear collections.
Barneys New York and Saks Fifth Avenue have their own in-house lines, while e-tailers like Mr. Porter and Net-a-porter collaborate with brands on exclusive shoe styles.
