L.A. Marathon Forecast To Be Hottest Ever; 5 Local Stores to Get Prepped

The 30th edition of the Asics L.A. Marathon gets under way on Sunday, March 15, when more than 26,000 runners will take to the streets for what is expected to be the city’s hottest race ever — and we aren’t talking about all the fit actors and models in the crowd.

Record temperatures are predicted for the day. In response to the forecasted high of 86 degrees, organizers have moved up the full-field start time to 6:55 a.m., increased the number of water and aid stations along the route and set up cooling buses and misting spots.

Marathon Medical Director Glenn Ault recommended in a statement that runners prepare for the extreme heat by hydrating well and studying the race route to identify the locations of water and aid stations. He also stressed that athletes should dress appropriately: “Wear lightweight, breathable fabrics that will help to keep you cool.”
