In its largest film collaboration yet, New York department store Bergdorf Goodman will debut a series of windows designs tomorrow inspired by the upcoming gothic romance “Crimson Peak.”
Five store windows along Fifth Avenue have been decorated with some of the original props and set pieces from the film and depict key moments in the course of the story.
“We were privileged to have the opportunity to build our windows around some extraordinary architectural elements and objects created for ‘Crimson Peak,'” said David Hoey, Bergdorf’s senior director of visual presentation, in a statement. “We were inspired by the craftsmanship of these pieces and their haunting ability to transport us into the mysterious world the filmmaker created.”
The movie, from Legendary and Universal Pictures, was directed and co-written by Guillermo del Toro, who previously brought us the visually compelling and darkly imaginative “Pan’s Labyrinth,” “The Orphanage” and “Mama.”
His latest film stars Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain, Tom Hiddleston and Charlie Hunnam, in a story of a young women who is seduced into a dangerous family living in a gothic mansion filled with grim secrets.
Many of the movie’s mysterious central characters will be represented in the Bergdorf windows, by mannequins outfitted in luxurious fall ’15 designs by labels such as Tom Ford, Valentino, Marc Jacobs, Givenchy and J. Mendel.
Stay tuned as we bring you images of the window displays. “Crimson Peak” opens in theaters worldwide next Friday, Oct. 16.
