Dare I say it, but there are generally two categories of people on Dec 26th. Those that continue the festive spirit by living in their pajamas all day and eating leftovers, and those that have one thing on their mind… sales.
The post Christmas discounts came in full force this past weekend, with many continuing well into the new year. Major departments stores saw an influx of shoppers on Saturday and Sunday, and with good reason. Prices were slashed.
Bloomingdales for example took advantage of the situation by enticing consumers with an additional 25% off from 8:00AM until 1:00PM only. Well, you can imagine the crowds.
Bergdorf Goodman, too, offered an additional 25% off already discounted items, while Neiman Marcus gave an extra 33% off sale items and 66% off regular-priced merchandise.
Turning our attention to Barneys NY — the famed department store reduced shoe prices by 60%, and with that came a slew of savvy shoppers over the post-holiday weekend. Whilst the sale also extended to the e-commerce site, it is worth noting that many prestige brands are not listed online. Therefore a visit in-store is paramount to really take advantage.
Brands spied on the shop floor included Lanvin, Christian Louboutin, Gianvito Rossi, Chanel (not listed online), Givenchy, Prada, Céline and many, many more. Coveted styles such as Paul Andrew’s Zenadia pump, and Saint Laurent’s Fetish sandals were also spotted on the racks of discounted shoes.
And for the Chanel lovers — although the perennial street style favorite espadrilles were not marked down (albeit the store did have a substantial full-priced collection), the high-top version was down by 60% and sizes were aplenty.
