The fall ’15 campaign for 3.1 Phillip Lim was revealed on Tuesday. The collection’s theme is “challenge the system.” So the label shot the campaign in Bhutan.
Lim skipped professional models, stylists and hair and makeup artists and instead cast local girls with no previous experience. Art photographer Viviane Sassen shot the images.
On Instagram, 3.1 Phillip Lim announced the campaign, writing, “No models, no hair stylist, no makeup, no stylist, no worries.” The video on Instagram shows a girl posing as other locals go about their day.
In one of the behind-the-scenes shots, it appears that one of the girls is wearing patent loafers, a jacket with a fur hood, a brocade skirt and mid-calf socks.
The brand says they collaborated with photographer Sassen “to continue the series of images based around the brand’s vision of ‘romancing reality’ — beauty in the everyday.”
Phillip Lim and WeN were recently honored at the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards in the retail and consumer-products category. FN also spotted actress and Goop.com founder Gwyneth Paltrow in 3.1 Phillip Lim Jasper boots last weekend.
