Rockford, Mich.-based Wolverine World Wide Inc. has appointed Chip Coe managing director of EMEA, replacing Dan Le Vesconte.
Coe will manage Wolverine’s Europe, Middle East and Africa operations, made up of company-owned and third-party distributors in 60 countries for all brands in Wolverine’s portfolio — including Merrell, Saucony, Sebago, Caterpillar Footwear, Keds, Hush Puppies and Sperry.
“Chip has distinguished himself in the industry as a strategic, fast-moving and results-oriented leader who focuses on brand, empowers teams and builds strong relationships with retailers and business partners,” said Jim Zwiers, Wolverine’s president of international, in a release. “I am thrilled that Chip will be partnering with our strong EMEA teams and partners to drive continued growth and success for our brands in the key EMEA region.”
Coe headed Wolverine’s Chaco brand for the past five years and prior to that was president and CEO of Smartwool.
The company said it has commenced succession planning and external recruiting to identify a new GM to lead the Rockford, Mich.-based Chaco team.
In Wolverine’s most recent quarter, reported on July 21, Chaco had double-digit growth, while the company as a whole saw 3 percent gains in revenue, or 5 percent gains on a currency-neutral basis.
Wolverine said at the time that its sales improvements were driven by higher-than-anticipated international shipments as well as growth in its U.S. wholesale business.
