Steve Madden Names Karla Frieders EVP of Product Development

Steve Madden is making a notable executive move to bolster its product team. Karla Frieders has been named EVP of product development, a newly created position at the Long Island City, N.Y.-based company. Frieders will be responsible for guiding overall creative direction and leading product design for the women’s footwear businesses, including the flagship Steve Madden brand.  She will report to Steve Madden, the company’s founder and creative and design chief.

“Karla and I have worked together for many years,” said Madden.  “Her deep understanding of product and trends is a winning formula.  She has succeeded at every level at the company, and this will be no different.”

Frieders has worked for Steve Madden in various roles for more than 16 years, most recently as president of retail.

“Product is the heart and soul of Steve Madden,” said Frieders. “I look forward to working directly with Steve and our talented design teams across all brands. I am thrilled and honored by this exciting new role.”
