Indiana Pacer Paul George Promotes Basketball in Asia

Paul George, the superstar for the Indiana Pacers, is back in action in a big way. The pro player, who gruesomely snapped his leg in a scrimmage game last August, returned to his team late in the NBA season — now he’s returned to the promotional trail.

George, a two-time NBA All-Star, has spent most of the summer traveling to China and the Philippines as part of Nike’s annual Rise Tour. The goal of the tour is to fuel the excitement young people in Asia have for the sport of basketball.

Along the way, George expressed his enthusiasm for giving back to the sport. In one tweet he said: “Love being an influence on the game I love! #NikeBasketball.”

During his trip, George spoke with fans — and took selfies with them, naturally — and press. The face of the franchise for the Pacers, also showed off some of his top-notch ball handling skills and dunks.

For many of the events, George, who was selected by the Pacers as the 10th pick in the 2010 NBA draft, took to the courts in a low edition of Nike’s Hyperdunk 2015.

The Nike Rise Tour will include other NBA players and sponsored athletes, such as Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Kevin Durant. The athletic company will document each of the player’s travels as part of a multimedia campaign.
