Foot Locker will have a Times Square home in 2016.
The retailer signed a 15-year lease for 36,000 square feet of retail space at 1460 Broadway, according to Himmel + Meringoff and The Swig Company, co-owners of the property.
The building’s address has been renamed 8 Times Square.
The 35-foot-high all-glass storefront near 42nd Street will boast 4,500 square feet of LED signage that will illuminate Times Square and be seen as far south as Macy’s on 34th Street, the building’s co-owners said in a statement. They also said that Foot Locker plans to have this new storefront open for the 2016 holiday season.
Foot Locker declined to comment on the new space.
In April, WeWork, a startup and shared workspace provider for small businesses, leased 180,000 square feet of commercial office space at 1460 Broadway, according to a Himmel + Meringoff and The Swig Company press release.
