Nicholas Kirkwood tells FN how to dress an Angel.
As we reported earlier this month, the Brit designer was on hand to designs the heels worn by the Victoria’s Secret Angels in last night’s show.
1. What was your inspiration?
Each story for the runway show has a different character and attitude. The show is about fantasy so it was great to work with the Victoria’s Secret team to define the girls’ persona and create some fun and adventurous pieces.
2. Any fun design challenges? Any Angels really get into the shoes?
The hand embroidered gold chain meant working with a different material and translating ideas and the Gabo design in a different way. The ‘Gabo Angels’ were a favourite and were the first group. It looks like the girls loved them.
3. Favorite part of the design process? Why want to do this project again?
The show has great energy from the start of the design process to the end with the show. The team have a very direct vision and goal which makes the process really enjoyable. I love working with them.
