Platforms vs. single soles: It’s the match of the season.
“I don’t think the single sole is going away, but I think the platform is having a resurgence,” said Bloomingdales’ Erica Russo, fashion director of fashion accessories for the department store. “I don’t think our customer ever stopped wearing the platform, but it helps that the style is coming back from big designers [such as] Saint Laurent and Victoria Beckham.”
Russo is also excited about wedges and athletic inspirations.
“Sport continues to be super important, and I’m loving the super-[stylish] athletic slide,” she said while walking Spy through a preview on a particularly rainy day last week. So how does Russo keep her footwear choices fashionable in a storm?
“You can definitely do a rainboot that looks chic, from Hunter to Chanel and Burberry,” she said.
