Footwear Exec Joseph Shields Dies

Joseph “Bud” Shields, who started in the footwear industry in the 1960s, died earlier this month. He was 85 years old.

Shields, of Pompano and Delray, Fla., was the New York/New England territory manager for Charm Step Shoes, a division of Genesco Inc., during the 1960s through the early ’80s. 

He later held a similar position at women’s label Enna Jettick, a division of Dunn & McCarthy.

Remembered by friends as “a true legend and true professional,” Shields is survived by his brother Arthur Klink; children Judith and Marty Ascher; daughter-in-law Sharon Shields, who was married to his late son Jesse Leon Shields; grandchildren Michael Ascher, Jonathan Ascher, Jason Shields and Eric Shields; and great-grandchildren Arielle Brooke Ascher, Gavin Shields and Quinlann Shields.
