The Inspiration for Naya Spring ’15

Bruce Emil admits he’s not a one-woman kind of guy. The creative director of St. Louis-based fashion-comfort brand Naya told Footwear News he had multiple personas in mind for spring ’15: a fierce career woman, a young competent girl, a whimsical free spirit and a sensuous mature type. Since joining the firm in 2013, Emil has pushed Naya beyond its original eco-friendly roots to incorporate modern, minimalist looks that pay homage to the past. “It’s about beauty through contrast and simplicity,” the designer said. “It’s playing up vintage-inspired patterns with technical sport bottoms, and vice versa. It’s a blend of classic inspiration with a futuristic twist.” Here, the muses behind Emil’s latest creations.
