The Monday and holiday season release on Nike’s website began at 8 a.m. EST, along with unveilings at select brick-and-mortar stores across the U.S. Such retailers included Foot Locker and House of Hoops by Foot Locker, selling at $230.
The Foamposite style was first introduced by the brand in 1996. Since its initial launch almost 20 years ago, variations on the original have been a cult favorite.
What makes this specific release so interesting are a few things to note. The combination of Foam and the “Volt” together keeps things fresh. The “Volt” color — showcased from tongue-to-sole — amplifies the wow factor. Checkered-like black and “Volt” sequences on the outsole and a translucent sole are also high points across this style.
Deon Point, a buyer from sneaker store Concepts in Boston, Mass., shared sales traction for today’s launch with FN. Coming from years of experience as an independent shop and following such releases through its doors, Point noted that, “the Foamposite is doing pretty good.”
Further insight from Point also included a look at the sneaker’s reach in comparison to similar releases through time. He explained, “The overall silhouette has experienced tremendous success over the past few years, so naturally, it’s slowing down somewhat. That coupled with a newsworthy Jordan release [on this past Saturday, Dec. 20, 2015] has definitely impacted the response at retail.”
Until the next Air Foamposite release…
