Set Scoops: ‘The Mindy Project’

Forget about neutrals — on “The Mindy Project,” it’s all about bold hues.

“I love the color that’s been out this year,” said Salvador Perez, the TV comedy’s costume designer, who keeps some 100 pairs of shoes on set for star Mindy Kaling. “I bought about 15 pairs of Stuart Weitzman. I have Jimmy Choos. And there was a pair of Manolo Blahniks we have in aqua, yellow and pink.” Another standout style from the season: a yellow pair by Fendi. “A lot of times, the shoes will be the focal point,” Perez said.

Kaling’s personal closet is a force to be reckoned with as well. “I had to borrow from her a couple of times. Her [collection] of shoes is amazing,” Perez said. “She has the same passion that I do.” So what is Perez wearing? Cole Haan loafers with colored soles. “I’ve used them on Adam Pally [who plays Dr. Peter Prentice],” he added.
