Ugg is warming up the Canadian retail scene.
The Goleta, Calif.-based brand today bows stores in Vancouver and West Edmonton, Alberta, bringing the store count there to nine.
The 2,300-sq.-foot Vancouver boutique is located at 960 Robson Street, a three-block shopping and entertainment destination in the city’s center. The 2,200-sq.-ft. West Edmonton, Alberta, store is located in West Edmonton Mall.
The timing couldn’t be better for the shearling brand to expand its footprint during a robust holiday season for the label. “Ugg has consistently remained one of the top gift giving items for the holidays,” said Gerard Marceda, VP of North America and retail for Deckers Brands. “Overall, Ugg’s equity among consumers is continually on the rise, especially as we’ve successfully evolved into a year-round lifestyle brand.”
The stores feature nearly 600 items, with a mix of footwear, home, loungewear and handbags. They also offer the popular “Bling It On,’ customization program that allows shoppers to transform their boots through a selection of Swarovski crystal patterns.
“Our direct-to-consumer retail strategy allows us to effectively communicate Ugg’s product evolution story, both domestically and internationally,” said Marceda. “Our commitment to Canada is part of our omni-channel approach. The two recent openings underscore the effectiveness of our ongoing efforts to elevate the in-store experience and expand the breadth of our product offering beyond footwear to include loungewear, home products and cold weather accessories.”
Beginning in winter 2015, the brand also plans to increase its offering of transitional products.
