Cat Footwear is popping into New York. This month, the Rockford, Mich.-based brand is setting up an 800-sq.-ft. pop-up shop on the corner of Lexington Avenue and 47th Street that will serve as a marketing vehicle as well as retail site. While the brand currently has more than 100 stores worldwide, this is its first foray into the U.S.
Beginning Oct. 21 through Oct. 29, the pop-up will be open to the public. In addition to fall ’14 product, the product mix will include three limited-edition styles from the U.K., available in the U.S. exclusively at the pop-up shop.
In addition, a range of consumer events are planned throughout the month that include an Oct. 11 fundraiser that coincides with International Day of the Girl Child, a United Nations-declared day highlighting gender inequalities among children. That day, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of Cat footwear will go to Everyday People Initiating Change, a charity run by two of Cat’s Earthmovers brand ambassadors, Alexi Panos and Tennille Amor, to bring clean drinking water to villages in third-world countries. Cat Footwear has cited Earthmovers as a group that distinguishes themselves with their drive and dedication to making change.
To mark the 25th anniversary of the brand’s iconic Colorado boot, a group of notable New York artists, also part of the Earthmovers team, will create custom artwork using the boot as a canvas. The artists will be at the Cat store on Oct. 14 to present their creations. The collection will then go on tour to Cat stores around the world in 2015.
In addition, on Oct. 21, style bloggers Sazan Barzani and Adam Gallagher will be on hand to offer style tips to shoppers. The two present a range of fashion tips on this month’s relaunch of the Catfootwear.com e-commerce website.
