Shoe-lover’s delight: Victoria Beckham, she of the sky-high heels (think Casadei, Kirkwood, Blahnik), is partnering with The Outnet.com to sell off 600 pieces from her own closet. Following her February trip to South Africa, where she met Dr. Mitch Besser, founder of mothers2mother — an organization that trains and employs mothers living with HIV — the designer said she returned home with a renewed interest in raising awareness for this cause.
“We approached The Outnet part of the Net-A-Porter Group, as they have an incredible global reputation and are the perfect partner for us to build awareness and raise as much money as possible for mothers2mothers,” Beckham said in a statement.
“From the start, [Theoutnet.com] has defined itself by its strong relationships and collaborations with designers in luxury fashion, and we are confident we can draw an enormous amount of interest for these iconic items and raise awareness for mothers2mothers,” said Stephanie Phair, president at The Outnet.
With the help of her mom and sister, Beckham chose shoes, hats, jewelry and ready-to-wear pieces from her Spice Girls days and awards-shows outfits to be included in the private sale August 20 – 25. Ten iconic pieces have also been selected for a reverse auction, where prices are reduced every five minutes.
