Zappos.com will debut its redesigned Couture.Zappos.com site today with artistic and editorial direction from former Vogue editor André Leon Talley.
The company tapped Talley as artistic director of the digital platform as part of its continued expansion into the luxury market.
“It’s very exciting to work in a new format with a talent like [photographer] Francesco Carrozzini, who is of today’s generation,” said Talley. “It’s my goal to offer sophisticated choices for men and women and not just in fashion, but in other areas such as reading, fine jewelry and home. It’s organic for me. I think of an idea, send it off and we plug it into the site. I’m inspired by everyday life.”
As artistic director, Talley. who also serves as international editor-at-large of Numéro Russia and is on the board of trustees of Savannah College of Art & Design, will helm his own editorial section called ZeeCee Andre Leon Talley. Sections include ALisT, which highlights apparel and accessories that Talley has deemed trend-worthy; Style Muse, featuring a celebrity known for their style, such as Amy Adams; and Dude of the Month, which spotlights a male fashion figure like designer Marc Jacobs.
Zappos Couture also will enhance its video content with a digital video series directed by Talley. Consumers will be able to click to buy through editorial content.
