Pensole Issues Shares To Grow

Pensole Footwear Design Academy is expanding its global community.

The school is introducing Soleholder, a “community ownership” fundraising campaign to help develop its facilities and bolster its reach.

“The Soleholder campaign will enable Pensole to continue to provide free education and expand into new programs that will address high school programming, the lack of women and people of color in the footwear design industry, and further our mission to identify, develop and place future footwear leaders,” D’Wayne Edwards, founder, told Footwear News.

Edwards, who has funded the academy from his personal finances since 2010, said he was inspired by the Green Bay Packers Shareholders program, which has offered stocks to fans five times since 1923, when deciding to issue 50,000 no-par value common stock shares for sale to the public.

Shares will cost $150 each, and there will be no purchasing limit.
