Chaco’s Birthday Party
Chaco, the sandal brand owned by Wolverine World Wide Inc., turns 25 this year. To celebrate, the label launched a timeline photo contest on its website, in which Chaco wearers upload photos of their adventures in the sandals. Each week, an in-house team selects a favorite photo to award a $150 Chaco gift certificate. In another marketing initiative, Chaco reps will travel to music festivals throughout the summer to expose fans to the brand. Finally, by summer’s end in August, Chaco will release the “From the Vault” collection to highlight its most popular webbing styles from the past 25 years. The looks will come in limited-edition shoeboxes and retail for $125 on Chacos.com.
A Walk in Her Shoes
Forward march. Walk a Mile in Her Shoes — a nonprofit, California-based international men’s organization protesting violence against women — has planned events throughout the year. During the “Walk Events,” scheduled worldwide, men will literally walk a mile in women’s high-heeled shoes. The marches help raise money for underfunded rape crisis centers, domestic violence shelters and other prevention and recovery services. Verona, Wis.-based Le Dame Footwear, owned by Mile co-founder Bernie Fatla, provides the 4-inch heels for the participants for discount prices. “I am most honored and privileged to be elected to this board and am pleased that Le Dame Footwear, as a small, privately owned company, can be part of something that affects so many lives,” Fatla said in a statement. “We all deserve to live our lives in a safe and secure environment, and by participating in this good cause we all can make a difference.” Interested walkers can register at Walkamileinhershoes.org.
3N2’s Baseball Star
Batter up. Orlando, Fla.-based sporting goods company 3N2 announced that Milwaukee Brewers’ outfielder Ryan Braun is its newest spokesman. Braun, who recently signed a long-term contract with the Brewers through 2020, will wear 3N2’s performance footwear and apparel on the field for the upcoming baseball season. Past 3N2 athlete endorsers include AJ Burnett of the Philadelphia Phillies and two-time Olympic softball medalist Natasha Watley. “Combine Ryan’s skill on the field, strong relationship with Milwaukee and his charitable efforts in the community, and you have a natural partner for us,” said 3N2 CEO Sean Murphy.
