Pentland Brands Inc. has promoted Richard Newcombe to brand president of Lacoste Footwear.
Prior to the appointment, Newcombe served as VP of global sales for the shoe division of Lacoste and has been a member of the Pentland team since 2004. Newcombe worked closely with Lacoste Footwear CFO Paul Webber to helm the brand after the departure last November of Lacoste’s former president, Andy Simister, who headed the shoe division for 17 years.
“Pentland has been entrusted with the footwear license since 1991 and has enjoyed a strong relationship with the Lacoste family and, more recently, with Devanlay, [the brand’s owner],” Pentland CEO Andy Rubin said in a statement. “We continue to work closely together with Devanlay to ensure we are consistently aligned with the global brand platform, and feel we have a very strong leadership team, led by Richard, to drive the Lacoste Footwear global business forward.”
