Soles4Souls is coming to Platform in Las Vegas for the first time.
Working with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Nevada, the Nashville-based charity is organizing a back-to-school footwear drive with FN Platform on the first day of the industry trade show, Magic, on August 17.
Aiming to collect athletic and lifestyle shoes, socks, apparel and backpacks, Soles4Souls plans to help more than 300 children with the donations.
“The biggest challenge is getting volunteers from the industry,” said Buddy Teaster, president and CEO of Soles4Souls. “With so much going on, it’s hard to find a moment when people can carve out the time.”
Gathering product has been another hurdle for the not-for-profit organization, Teaster explained, adding that while there is “enough” for the Vegas event, the team is always working to reach more people.
Back-to-school is the busiest time of year for Soles4Souls, which annually partners with organizations and schools from Massachusetts to North Carolina.
This year’s event at Magic will start at 12:30 p.m. at 2000 E. Flamingo Road, Las Vegas, and will run until 4 p.m.
