Stylist-turned-designer Rachel Zoe presented her spring collection during New York Fashion Week (friend Olivia Palermo stopped by), choosing a penthouse in the Soho Grand Hotel as the venue. While Zoe presented sequined shift dresses and floor-length lace gowns, the shoes took a more casual approach with block-heel mules, buckled sandals and perforated ankle boots. “I don’t wear flats, but I love to design flats, because it’s very much the mood of the clothes. I love the juxtaposition of evening [wear] with flats,” Zoe said.
Bionda Castana took a spin down the runway at the Honor show. Co-founder Natalia Barbieri said it was a unique moment. “We love to see [our designs] walk, you feel quite proud,” she said. During NYFW, the designer also made time for the Prabal Gurung show and a few shopping excursions. Reformation, Assembly New York and the Bergdorf Goodman were all on her list.
For Armando Cabral, his NYFW experience was mixed in with some time on the New York Stock Exchange. The model and namesake designer joined the team at Wilhelmina to commemorate going public with the ring of the bell. “We are absolutely celebrating tonight,” he told Spy Wednesday. As for his collection of women’s footwear (Cabral also designs men’s), he is thinking about the girl next store. “I don’t necessarily have a celebrity in mind, I design for everybody. I want my shoes to be for someone who loves fashion and is always on the go,” he said. Travel is also a good source of inspiration, with plans to travel to Europe, Japan and maybe Africa. “My fall inspiration could be from these trips,” he said. Stay tuned.
