Dr. Scholl’s Cooks Things Up

Less is more when it comes to footwear, according to the new Meringue collection by Dr. Scholl’s.

This spring, the St. Louis-based brand is putting a modern spin on the iconic Original Exercise slide with a quartet of styles that pick up super-lightweight outsoles.

“It’s a modern interpretation of the exercise sandal,” said James Sowins, VP and creative and brand director, about keeping the brand’s DNA intact while updating it with a more sophisticated and elegant aesthetic.

The collection’s comfort-driven bottoms, made of a blend of EVA and TPR, were inspired by the popular meringue confection, known for its light and airy texture.

“The bottoms have the appearance of being dense, but in actuality are really light,” said Sowins about the shoe series set on creamy-white platform wedges.

Meringue focuses on a neutral color palette of gold, saddle tan and black, with a hint of leopard sprinkled in. Styles include the Frill and Flight, a duo of slides, and the Warner and Fraser, ankle-strap styles. Also included in the collection are fresh takes on the Original Exercise Sandal, available in the new color range.

Retail prices range for Meringue range from $88 to $108, with delivery set for February.
