The Susan G. Komen foundation is once again getting support from Ugg Australia. In September, the Goleta, Calif.-based brand launched a Breast Cancer Awareness collection of boots and slippers, to be sold through November in its company stores and via Uggaustralia.com. The Komen organization will receive $5 for each pair sold, with a maximum donation of $50,000.
Boston-based New Balance is introducing a donation program in its stores throughout October, whereby consumers can grant $1, $5, $10 or $25 to local Susan G. Komen affiliates. Consumers who contribute $5 to $25 will receive a co-branded gift with purchase. Also beginning this month and through the end of the year, consumers can visit Newbalance.com/laceup to join the Pink Laces Club, which offers access to exclusive features, personal stories and tips dedicated to staying fit and healthy. By registering, members will receive a pair of pink laces and additional incentives to utilize the hashtag #LaceUp365 all year long.
Nine West is again joining forces with Fashion Targets Breast Cancer, a program by the Council of Fashion Designers of America. From Oct. 15-21, Nine West will donate $25 to FTBC for each $125 purchase in its stores, outlets or online. As a thank you, customers will receive a Nine West/FTBC-branded pouch. Additionally, for the first time this year, the firm has designed a limited-edition co-branded pump, available in its New York stores and on Ninewest.com. And a philanthropic social media campaign is running throughout October: For every photo uploaded of someone wearing a blue shoe, using hashtag #9WFTBC and tagging @NineWest, the brand will make a donation to FTBC.
Skechers USA Inc. has a host of initiatives planned for October to raise awareness for breast cancer. The Manhattan Beach, Calif.-based firm will offer a Performance Awareness collection for women, and it is helping to generate funds for the American Cancer Society, including providing a lump-sum donation to the organization. In addition, consumers shopping at Skechers stores during the month can round up their payment to the nearest dollar and gift the difference to the ACS. Shoppers who give more than $5 will receive a 20 percent discount on a future purchase. Skechers will also participate in the ACS’ Make Strides Against Breast Cancer walk in San Francisco and donate a percentage of proceeds from all on-site sales of its shoes.
